New Recruit Need-to-Knows

Your First Parade Night

A comprehensive presentation on our Unit and joining as a new cadet can be reviewed here.

For your first parade night with our unit, please arrive dressed in clean clothing (jeans with no rips, slacks, a clean shirt) with clean indoor shoes to use for the night's activities. This order of dress will be required until you receive your inform. You will be outfitted with your uniform after you have been sized and a uniform has been ordered for you. A uniform will be ordered once you have confirmed through experience that  the program is right for you.  

 

You will be asked to sign and agree to our Cadet Code of Conduct upon joining, which can be viewed here

Opportunities for Cadets

​Throughout your career as a cadet, you will encounter new challenges, develop unique skills, and form friendships that will last a lifetime. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Annual weekend Field Training Exercises

  • Annual weekend Gliding or Power Familiarization Flying trips 

  • Fitness, Drill (marching), effective speaking, and range (air rifle) competitions

  • Summer day camps and summer sleep-away camps, potential spring break camps 

  • Leadership, aircraft, military, and survival training 

  • Glider pilot and/or power pilot training

What does it cost to join Air Cadets?

There are no registration fees or dues to join the Cadet Program. Upon joining, uniforms and accoutrements are provided free of charge while you are actively enrolled in 12 RCACS. Cadets and parents are encouraged to participate in and contribute to fundraising on behalf of the Local Sponsoring Committee and League, to offset costs not covered by the Department of National Defence.


To join, a youth must:

  1. Have reached their 12th birthday; however, have not reached their 19th Birthday

  2. Be able to legally reside in Canada through a Student Visa, Work Visa, Permanent Residency, or Canadian Citizenship.

  3. Be able to supply an original piece of government issued ID, such as a birth certificate or immigration card, as proof of identity

  4. Be able to supply an original, Alberta Health Care card or Federal Health Care Card

   
Joining Instructions

  1. Follow this link to join 12 Royal Canadian Air Cadets: Join Today!

    1. Ensure that "12 Edmonton Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron" ​is typed into the "Unit Name" field.

    2. Type your e-mail into the box beneath the unit name field, and press "Start New Application". 

    3. An e-mail with further instructions will be sent to your account. 

  2. Once the online application is complete, please be prepared to fill out the following forms:

    2. Uniform Sizing Sheet
